The KIA Tigers boasts the most diverse bullpen composition among the 10 teams this season. Starting with closer Jung Hae-young, who became the youngest to make 100 saves in the KBO League on Monday, Jeon Sang-hyun and Jang Hyun-sik are forming a group of right-handed pitchers by displaying powerful pitching capability. On top of that, left-handed pitchers such as Lee Joon-young, Choi Ji-min and Kwak Do-gyu are taking the lead in protecting the team's victory in splendid form.

Notably, the left-handed bullpen session consisting of Lee Joon-young, Choi Ji-min, and Kwak Do-kyu is Kia's strong support. While other teams have few left-handed specialists due to shortage of left-handed pitchers, Kia has been utilizing three left-handed bullpen sessions since early this season.

There are also many ways to utilize the device. Veteran Lee Joon-young is faithfully playing the role of Sniper. He has one win and two holds and 1.50 ERA in 11 games through Tuesday. He is contributing to the bullpen by effectively preventing short innings against left-handed hitters.

Choi Jimin (21) is playing a key role in the KIA left-handed bullpen. He is marking one loss, five losses, two saves and an ERA of 0.64 in 15 games this season. He is solidly laying the foundation for his team to lead both Jeon and Jung Hae-young as a closer. Choi is showing good performance not only for left but also for right-handed hitters. His batting average is 0.179 against left-handed hitters and 0.158 against right-handed hitters. He is strong regardless of left or right-handedness.

Kwak Do-gyu (20), who showed potential in the first division last year, is also showing off his strong performance early this season. Although his pace dropped a little in mid-April, he is still showing off his power with a fastball in the mid-to-late 140 kilometers per hour. He has one win and four holds and an ERA of 2.25 in 15 games this season.

It is no exaggeration to say that the three left-handers are all in the team that must win. "We plan to have up to five members of the team that must win," Kia Tigers coach Lee Bum-ho once stressed the importance of 'Yang.' Jang Hyun-sik, Jeon Sang-hyun, Jeong Hae-young, Choi Jimin, Kwak Do-gyu, and Lee Joon-young are in the lineup. With the left-handers showing strong performances, the KIA bullpen has abundant quality as well as quantity.

The left-hander's remaining homework is now continuity. Choi showed consistency in 58 games last year, playing 59.1 innings. Lee Joon-young was also in charge of 33.2 innings in 64 games. If Kwak Do-gyu continues to play full-time while the two pitchers remain the same as last year, KIA may have a big advantage in bullpen fights throughout the regular season.
